The Ambassadorial Scholarship
for study in 2007-2008

The primary purpose of the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries. Both men and women may apply to study or train in another country where Rotary clubs are located. Generally, study will begin after July 1, 2008.

To be eligible one must have completed at least two years of university or college work, although in practice awards are usually given for post-graduate work. Applicants must be citizens of a country where there is a Rotary club.  Relatives of Rotary club members are not eligible.

This scholarship is for one regular academic year (usually nine months) at an institution selected by the student and approved by The Rotary Foundation Trustees. It may be used for almost any field of study, but not for unsupervised research, medical internship or residency, or full-time employment in the host country.

Funding is intended to cover round-trip transportation, one month of intensive language training, required academic fees for a normal course load, reasonable room and board expenses, and some educational supplies. Awards will range from $13,000 to a maximum of $25,000 depending upon actual costs at the assigned institution.

Although there is provision for a month of intensive language study, one must already have a good knowledge of the language of the host country.

Students may apply in either the district of their home or the district where their school is located. In either case applications must be made through a local club. Contact a member of a Rotary club near you or a member of the District Committee. Further information and application forms are available on the Ambassadorial Scholarship Web Site
